SAS Lettings is a campus based lettings agency. We help students find good, affordable accommodation and eliminate some of the risks associated with renting a property privately as a student.

We were formed by Swansea University Students' Union in order to address the high level of complaints relating to student accommodation each year.

Over the years, many students have raised concerns over issues concerning health and safety, harassment and environmental issues associated with their privately rented accommodation. As a result the Students' Union felt that there was a need to manage and control within Swansea on behalf of students.

SAS is the service that we have put in place to raise the standards of private rented student accommodation in Swansea. We seek to remove the opportunity for rogue agencies and landlords to target students.

House hunting

You must decide who you would like to live with. Be clear on how many people will live together. Most of the student houses available to rent have 4-5 bedrooms. Individuals can also rent a room in a shared house.

When to begin your search

We suggest you start looking for your property to rent from the end of Januray onwards. Do not be persuaded to sign up earlier as there is enough property to rent.

Where to look

First stop will be SAS, which can be found at the front of Fulton House, next to the cash machines. Or check out our website at www.sas-lettings.co.uk , where you can view our property list and register for property alerts.

If you are still unable to find suitable accommodation, other places to find property include the University UMPS service, the housing list, local newspapers and local estate/lettings agents.

Be careful; however, as some of the agents may try to charge you for going on their books and will certainly charge you subsequent administration costs when you have agreed to take up the tenancy.

Ours is a free service with no administration fees!
